Nylon Double Braid Dock Line Information

NYLON DOUBLE BRAID Dock/Mooring Line

Stain-Fast  Made in Canada   Dock / mooring Lines

All of our Dock/Mooring lines are made from double braid nylon ropes. We splice a 10″-12″ loop on one end, the other end is Heat Sealed to prevent the rope from unraveling.

Nylon rope will stretch when a load is applied, the elastic elongation is approx 20%.
The main benefit of this property is that nylon rope will absorb a certain amount of shock loading at Mooring/Docking during normal or adverse conditions.

These lines when properly attached to the boat and the dock will reduce the rubbing / scratching between the boat and the dock.
Dock Lines should be evenly tensioned, this helps reduce the movement and damage to your boat.
Installation of Fender Lines and setting Fenders also help reduce this friction and are used in conjunction with dock lines.

It is very important to match the rope diameter to the boat size. Undersized or damaged lines may fail even under normal water conditions.
Over size ropes may not stretch under heavy loading, increasing the shock loading on deck hardware that could fail.
Protect your craft in all conditions by using properly sizes Dock Lines.

Our Dock Lines are Designed to secure Sailboats, Power Boats, Pontoon Boats, House Boats, canoes, Personal Water Craft (PWC), and other water craft at Dock /Mooring. Other uses include Small aircraft Tie Downs, All Terrain Vehicles, Forestry, Utilities, Agriculture, Hunting, Transport, Climbing and Rescue

We have Four styles of Dock Lines.

Our “AT HOME” Lines are designed to be securely attached to your home dock. You are quickly able to tie up, the lines are always available and in the same place. These Dock Lines are usually 1/3 – 1/2 times the length of the boat. Stainless Thimble Spliced one end, other end Heat Sealed. These lines are not normally required for trailer stored boats.

Our “ TRAVEL” Lines are attached to your craft for use at Docks and Moorings when you visit other Clubs or Marinas. These lines have 10-12 inch loop spliced into one end and heat sealed on the other. These TRAVEL Dock Lines are generally 1/2 – 3/4 times the length of the boat.

Our “SPRING” LINES are used in conjunction with our “AT HOME” and “TRAVEL” lines. They give added stability to the craft and reduce the friction, rubbing, scratching between the boat and the dock.
These lines have 10-12 inch loop spliced into one end and heat sealed on the other. These Spring Dock Lines are usually 3/4 -1 1/4 times as long as the boat. These lines are not normally required for trailer stored boats.

PWC Floating Dock Lines  are used mainly by owners of Personal Water Craft (PWC) and other small Trailer stored Boats. These Lines float and are not as easily caught up in the impellers and propellers of these small boats.

When choosing dock lines you might consider more than the rope strength (BL) and length. Are you able to grip the rope tightly without wrapping it around you hand? What size is easier to handle eg: 3/8 dia or 1/2 dia?

It is a very dangerous practice to wrap the dock line around your hand, you can be pulled into the water and crushed between the boat and the dock. Use the dock cleat to help control the boat motion during docking.

Our  Lines are Designed to secure Sailboats, Power Boats, Pontoon Boats, House Boats, canoes, Personal Water Craft (PWC), and other water craft at Dock /Mooring.

Marine Lines : As with all safety equipment the boat owner, operator, user has the final responsibility to ensure the safety of the craft and all on board.

This equipment like all safety sensitive equipment must be checked for proper installation and operation each time before setting out on the water.
